Biography

Dr. Stephen Troum grew up in North Carolina where he attended medical school at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, NC after graduating college from Emory University in Atlanta, GA. He completed a residency in General Surgery at Mercer University and returned to Wake Forest for an orthopedic fellowship in Hand & Upper Extremity Surgery. Dr. Troum is board certified in Surgery of the Hand by the American Board of Surgery and is a fellow of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand.

Dr. Troum has been practicing exclusively hand and upper extremity surgery for over 20 years. He has published many journal articles and book chapters on topics including arthroscopy, vascular disease, hand infections, tumors, replantation and various subjects in general surgery. He remains academically active as a consulting reviewer for the Journal of Hand Surgery and has appeared as a medical expert in the national media including the Wall Street Journal and New York Times. Dr. Troum was also recognized by the Texas Legislature when he received an honorary commission as Surgeon General of Texas in 2004.
